Overview
About the Programme
The Statistics and Operations Research programme of the Polytechnic University of Catalonia has a staff of 40 professors who work between the School of Industrial Engineering of Barcelona (ETSEIB); the School of Industrial, Aerospace and Audio-visual Engineering of Terrassa (ESEIAAT); the Barcelona School of Informatics (FIB) and the School of Mathematics and Statistics (FME). The Department offers its own doctoral programme as well as master’s and postgraduate courses.
The Department is involved in a large number of research activities (mostly in the field of industrial engineering), the development of intelligent interfaces and automatic data processing systems, the optimisation and simulation of flows in networks and related applications.

General requirements
In general, any student coming from a numbers-related discipline or holding a master’s degree in Statistics and Operations Research (preferably from the UPC) who earned good (in the top quarter) grades may be admitted into this doctoral programme
- Specifically, it is recommended that applicants hold one of the following undergraduate degrees:
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistical Techniques and Sciences
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering
