The Doctorate Program comes from the evolution of the former Ph D program which, with the same title, existed already in the Department. This program has developed a very valuable task both from the academic, scientific and professional points of view. The importance of chemical industry in the Spannish economy and in the nowadays society should be taken into accoun, as well as the fact that 40% of the spanish chemical industry is located in Catalonia.

The scientific and academic aspects are highlighted by the scientific results reached (papers, prizes, etc.) along the path followed by the program. The professional interest is evidenced by the responsability positions in which most of the doctors are now working.

The general objective is the development at UPC of a Ph D Program in the field of Chemical Engineering, which prepares the Ph doctors to develop and lead reserach projects.

Among the specific targets, the following can be mentioned:

  • the Ph D's should have a deep knowledge of the sources of data and of scientific and technical information
  • the Ph D's should know the methods for planning experiments and treating data
  • the Ph D's should know the best methodologies for desihning and optimizing chemical process equipments and plants
  • the Ph D's should be capable to critically analyze a given design, plant or situation.

And amongst the transversal targets:
