About

History

  • George Pepperdine founded his namesake university in 1937.
  • On September 21, 1937, the new campus of George Pepperdine College hosted 2,000 attendees gathered to witness the opening of the school. Speakers that day included California governor Frank Merriam, Los Angeles mayor Frank L. Shaw, the college's first president Batsell Baxter, and founder George Pepperdine.

  • Tari Frahm Rokus Field has been the home of the Pepperdine women's soccer team since the program came into existence in the fall of 1993
  • The Pepperdine men's and women's tennis teams play all of their home dual matches at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center.
  • Pepperdine's Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool 
  • World-famous Zuma Beach has been the home of Pepperdine's national-championship winning beach volleyball team since the program's first season in 2011-12.
