History
Situated in the old capital city of Nanjing, Nanjing University (NJU) has a one-hundred-year-long history and enjoys high prestige. It evolved from Sanjiang Normal School (established in 1902) to Nanjing University in 1950. In the nationwide restructuring of universities and colleges undertaken in 1952, NJU was integrated with Jinling University and retained its name Nanjing University.

Housing services
- International students can stay in the international student’s dormitory on Gulou campus, or the dormitory on Xianlin campus. Gulou campus is located in downtown Nanjing. Xianlin campus is about 20 kilometers away from Gulou campus.

Library services
- Nanjing University Library is among the best university libraries in China.
- By the end of 2014, its collection reached 5.77 million (including collections in faculty reference rooms). It has up to 400,000 ancient thread-bound books,including over 3,000 kinds or over 30,000 copies of rare books.
Medical services
- Nanjing University has a school hospital, pided into Gulou campus and Xianlin campus branches, providing medical treatment services for everyone. When you are not feeling well, you can go to one of these hospitals for advice and treatment.
- You could take your campus card to pay for all the fee in both hospitals.

- Gulou campus is located in downtown Nanjing.
- Xianlin campus is about 20 kilometers away from Gulou campus.
Sports facilities
- Gulou Campus: The Institute for International Students has a basketball court,which is provided free of charge for foreign study-abroad students' and international exchange students' use. The southern half of campus has tennis courts, and the northern half has an indoor pool, weight room, ping-pong facilities, and an area for calisthenics. Fees are regulated by the university.
- Xianlin Campus: The Xianlin Campus has already opened its basketball, volleyball, and tennis courts, as well as other sports facilities. The gym houses a ping-pong room, badminton room, weight room, as well as other facilities open to the community, some of which require fees for use.
