In June,1953, the Ministry of Heavy Industry merged Wenzhou Industrial School of Zhejiang Province, the Chemical Division of Hangzhou Industrial School of Zhejiang Province and Chemical Division of Suzhou Senior Technical School of Jiangsu Province into Hangzhou Chemical Engineering School administered by the Ministry of Heavy Industry of the Central Government.
Zhejiang University of Technology is a comprehensive key university of Zhejiang Province, co-established by the Zhejiang Provincial government and the Ministry of Education. It offers programs in a variety of subjects including engineering, science,liberal arts,law,economics,pharmaceuitics,management,education,and so on.
Zhejiang University of Technology (ZJUT) offers 68 undergraduate programs in 8 disciplines, including engineering, science, management science, economics, law, education, art and medical science, etc, with over 28,000 registered undergraduate and vocational students.
The library has an area of more than 60,000 square meters, containing over 7,210,000 books, 17,000 of which are Chinese and foreign periodicals.
ZJUT is located in Hangzhou, a well-known historical and cultural city as well as a world-famous place of interest. It consists of three campuses, Chaohui, Pingfeng and Zhijiang, covering a total area of 213 hectares.
