History
Since 1846, Bucknell University has pushed the boundaries of undergraduate education and actively shaped the world outside Lewisburg. It's a tradition that continues today, with our distinct mix of liberal arts and professional programs giving students almost unlimited options to pursue their intellectual interests and passions
Education
- Bucknell offers top-ranked liberal arts, engineering and management programs in three distinct colleges: Arts & Sciences, Engineering and the Freeman College of Management.
- Countless innovative and transformative learning experiences await students in all three — and the many interdisciplinary spaces in between — preparing them for success and a lifetime of discovery.
Career
The Counseling & Student Development Center offers a variety of services for students so that their college years may be productive, healthy and rewarding. All services are free and strictly confidential.

Student services
Great education isn't confined to a classroom or a schedule. At Bucknell, you will learn everywhere, all the time — with peers of different backgrounds and through extracurricular activities, internships, dinner at a professor's home, independent research, guest speakers, study abroad, late-night discussions with your hall-mates and more.
Housing services
- We offer you a range of housing options so that you can find the one that's best for you.
- First-year students, regardless of major, can choose to live in any one of our nine Residential Colleges. You'll live in a hall together, go on trips, serve your community and broaden your perspectives.
- As a first year, sophomore, junior or senior, you can choose to live in a themed residence called an Affinity House. This innovative living experience allows a group of students to reside together in one of our 12 small houses across campus.
- You can also choose from traditional residence halls and apartment-style housing — the choice is yours.
Medical services
Bucknell Student Health offers a wide range of on-site care by appointment or walk-in to get students back on their feet fast and help them meet their health goals. Services include treatment for routine illnesses and injuries, gynecology visits, drug and alcohol counseling, travel medicine and campus outreach and education.
Campus life
Open in August 2015, Bucknell's South Campus Apartments offer independent-style living and programming for juniors and seniors. The four residence halls include suites of single-bed rooms and shared kitchen and bath spaces. Each building includes a themed lounge area for fun or studying. The nearby Commons Building features a Commons Café, a convenience store, a pool table, lounge areas and student-run programming that students across campus can enjoy.
Sports facilities
With 27 teams competing in Division I, we have one of the largest varsity athletics programs in the country. Our more than 700 student-athletes are recognized for their success in competition, where we've won the Patriot League Presidents' Cup more times than any other school, and in the classroom, where we rank among the top schools in the U.S. in student-athlete graduation rate and Academic All-Americans.
Accreditation
Bucknell was first accredited by the Middle States in 1921. In 2014, Bucknell University completed its decennial reaccreditation with the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. The institution is fully accredited until 2024.
