History

From its founding in 1856 as Seton Hall College to the present day, Seton Hall has been dedicated to supporting the vision that its founder, Bishop James Roosevelt Bayley, described as providing "a home for the mind, the heart, and the spirit." Its Catholic roots have made the University a home that is open to people of all faiths, creeds and colors.

Student services

While Seton Hall enjoys a big reputation, the campus community is also close-knit and inclusive. Students, faculty and staff come from around the world, bringing with them a kaleidoscope of experiences and perspectives, creating a diverse yet unified campus environment.

Housing services

There are six traditional style residence halls on campus. The Department also supports and staffs two apartment style residence halls in close proximity to campus. In total the department manages approximately 2350 bed spaces for students in residence.

Library services

Seton Hall University Libraries is committed to providing (and assessing) high quality Reference and Instruction Services for the Seton Hall University community.

We support the Mission of the University with user-focused resources and services based on evolving priorities, technologies, and curricular needs.

ICT services

Alumni of Seton Hall University are permitted to obtain a guest account for the use of on-campus computer facilities by presenting their Alumni ID Card at the circulation desk of Walsh Library or to a technician in any public lab.

Sports facilities

Athletics is a big part of life at Seton Hall, with 14 men's and women's varsity athletic teams competing in the BIG EAST, one of the most thrilling conferences in the country. In addition to varsity athletics, you can join a club sport or gather a team to play one of 18 different intramural sports. Into working out? Seton Hall's recreational center offers you a swimming pool, free weights, cardio equipment and more.

Student clubs

As a student, you're always learning - whether you're joining a Greek organization, spinning discs at our award-winning radio station, WSOU, writing for the student newspaper, The Setonian, or serving as a member of our Student Government Association. From student media to sports to professional societies to religious organizations, our 100-plus clubs and organizations run the gamut.

Accreditation

The College of Education and Human Services is nationally accredited by CAEP (Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation). The CAEP accreditation includes all of our programs in initial teacher preparation. Programs for advanced school professionals have continuing NCATE accreditation. The doctoral counseling psychology is accredited by the APA (American Psychological Association) and the Marriage and Family Therapy program is accredited by COAMFTE (Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education). All programs regularly assess student learning and program effectiveness in order to continuously improve.
