The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga is a driving force for achieving excellence by actively engaging students, faculty and staff, embracing diversity and inclusion, inspiring positive change and enriching and sustaining our community.

History

When the Methodist Episcopal Church began to explore the possibilities of developing a central university in the South, Chattanoogans came forward to work with the church in this effort and became UTC. Since its founding in 1886, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga has developed an institutional excellence on a blend of private and public traditions of higher education.

Education

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga is equipped with high-tech learning and research facilities and served by a faculty of teaching scholars. Through internships, cooperative education assignments and experiential learning opportunities, UTC students learn in a laboratory as large as the world.

Research

Through research, outreach, and artistic pursuits, our faculty members remain on the cutting edge in their disciplines—and they take UTC students with them. Undergraduate students at UTC gain research experience that is reserved for graduate students at most other campuses, and with the increasing emphasis on master's and doctoral programs advanced research opportunities are developing across areas. Partnerships with governments, agencies, and industries across the region are accelerating the growth of research potential.

Career

In concert with the rest of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga community, the Center for Career and Leadership Development wishes to thank each student, staff, and faculty member for their engagement in responding to this present challenge. We will continue to focus on our students and remain dedicated to our mission to provide the best educational experience possible in spite of the hardships and difficulties we are facing.

Complete overview of scholarships

Student services

For the students coming to UTC from more than 55 countries, the Office of International Student and Scholar Services is here for you. We provide support for admissions processes, immigration issues, academic challenges and personal difficulties.

Housing services

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga considers requests for housing accommodations on an individual case-by-case basis for individuals with disabilities in campus housing. Reasonable housing accommodations may include single rooms, first-floor rooms or an elevator in close proximity, strobe alarm systems, and others, as determined by the Disability Resource Center in an interactive process with the student. If a request has been approved, the accommodation is communicated to Housing and Residence Life.

Library services

The UTC Library is well equipped to support the research and scholarship needs of the community with an operating budget of over 4.1 million dollars, a dynamic and engaged faculty and staff, a new library building that opened in January 2015, and a broad collection of diverse materials including 600,000 print and ebooks, over 30,000 digital journals available, 150+ indexes and databases, and more.

ICT services

The UTC Help Desk is an IT support team for students, faculty, staff and visiting guests. Our team answers questions and resolves some issues immediately. Issues that cannot be resolved immediately are escalated to the appropriate team. If you need to submit an IT request, the UTC Help Desk is the best place to start.

Medical services

The staff of University Health Services (SHS) seeks to give every student, faculty and staff member optimum healthcare. Services include visits for acute and chronic illnesses, physical exams, screenings, immunizations, lab services, TB skin testing and allergy shots.

Sports facilities

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga currently offers students, faculty, and staff an opportunity to participate in Club Sports. These activities can be competitive, recreational, or instructional and may include intercollegiate competition and tournament play. Participation in club sports is strictly voluntary and is meant to be a learning experience for all members involved. The primary goal of the UTC Club Sport Program is to produce "student-lead, student-run" organizations that enhance participants' teamwork and leadership abilities while also maintaining a safe, fun, and friendly environment for all.

Student clubs

  • The Graduate Student Association (GSA), is a student-led organization that serves as the official voice for graduate and professional students at UTC.
  • The mission of School Psychology Student Association (SPSA) is to help improve networking between the different graduate school psychology student classes, and to enlighten undergraduate students on the roles and responsibilities of school psychologist in the education system.

BFA Graphic Design program UTC CHATT

The BFA program contains rigorous work that includes hands-on projects implemented into each class, a quality that most universities in Graphic Design do not offer. I have enjoyed working with professors who push me to elaborate and develop my thoughts, ideas and designs in unique ways due to their lecture style and passion for the program.
