The Ukrainian Catholic University has inherited and continues to uphold the scholarly traditions of the Greek Catholic Theological Academy established in the late 1920s by Metropolitan Andrei Sheptytsky. Rev. Josyf Slipyj was the academy’s first rector.
The University’s structures of administration are: Founder, President, Senate (Supervisory Council), Rector, the Learned Council of the University, general gathering (conference) of the working collective of the University, Grand Chancellor.
Among UCU’s priority research areas are programs in Ukrainian Catholic theology, the study of problems of today’s world and reconciliation and mutual understanding in Ukraine, “Kyivan Christianity,” and “The UGCC in the conditions of the Soviet regime: Violent liquidation, life in the underground, the struggle for legalization, 1939-1989.” Among research areas in which UCU has, or in the near future plans to develop, as original schools of research are: history, including ecclesiastical and intellectual, research in nationalism, religious studies, separate branches of theology, sociology, ethical and bioethical problems, and applied research in the field of machine learning.

Living in the student Collegium, named after Patriarch Josyf Slipyj, is an important part of life for the entire community of the Ukrainian Catholic University. The Collegium adheres to the high quality of life and respective moral standards of the University.

Actually, I appreciate UCU for the grasp of knowledge provided for students, studying and living conditions, and the community being built up by the students, professors and workers of this university.
Of course, our program still has room to grow, as there are sometimes nuances with the courses we enroll in, with the level of their teaching, expediency, structure, relevance, but this does not prevent us from getting the necessary knowledge. And the university is not limited to student activities, in which anyone can participate and show their ambitions. Therefore, I was extremely interested in trying myself in everything, as it gives an opportunity to understand myself better. In general, even with Covid-19, I did not lose the opportunity to be involved in student life, although studying on campus itself was very lacking, since productivity in person is much higher than in front of a computer screen.
The program is very boring. The professors don’t care about the students and the main professor doesn’t care about useless teachers.
