History
The Graduate School for Social Research (GSSR) was created at the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IFiS PAN) in 1992. IFiS is a leading institution for the social sciences in Poland.
Education
The School’s position within the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology, a leading institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences, allows integration of teaching and research in its MA and PhD programmes.
Research
We offer high academic standards, programmes following the British system of education, close links to the leading Polish social research institution, and the individual attention of our faculty members.
Career
Alumni pursue careers in academia, journalism, politics, with NGOs and in business. Their varied professions reflect the interdisciplinary nature of GSSR programmes, the important skills taught and the wide range of questions addressed in theses and dissertations.

Library services
The GSSR has a small teaching library intended to provide access to all readings for taught courses. Students also have access to J Stor, EBSCO , the online archives of Rzeczpospolita and Gazeta Wyborcza as well as to CBOS Public Opinion Research Centre Reports in pdf format. The collections of the GSSR Libraries number about 11 thousand books, 60 titles of printed journal.
