Flint, Michigan, United States
Founded in 1956 on a commitment to bring a quality Michigan education to Flint and the surrounding area, UM-Flint has done exactly what we set out to do. In the process, we’ve welcomed a record number of students into our classrooms, equipping them with the knowledge, experiences, and skills to make lasting contributions to the businesses, organizations, and communities they help shape.

History

Founded in 1956 to bring the quality of a University of Michigan education to the Flint area, UM-Flint is dedicated to helping our students turn their ambitions into reality. Our small, diverse campus with supportive faculty mentors is inspiring a whole new generation of creative thinkers and problem solvers to change lives for the better.

Education

UM-Flint students enjoy unique opportunities to engage in their communities while engaging their futures though field work, groundbreaking research, and community service. This unique approach to experiential learning encourages students to use the knowledge they’re gaining in the classroom to solve challenges in the world beyond the classroom walls. Students emerge from this experience better prepared to put their degrees to work.

Research

The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs offers integrated research support for faculty, staff, and students. Whether it's by assisting faculty with developing funding proposals, connecting undergraduate students with hands-on research experiences, by providing opportunities for students and faculty to present their research, or by supporting investigators through the entire project lifecycle, it is our goal to foster a culture of research at UM-Flint.
