Fitchburg State University, located in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, is a public institution dedicated to integrating high-quality professional programs with strong liberal arts and sciences studies.

History

When Fitchburg State was established in 1894, it was known as the State Normal School in Fitchburg, and the sole curriculum was a two-year teacher-training program for women. There was no campus then, just a temporary quarters set up in an old high school building on Academy Street operated by Principal John G. Thompson and a teaching staff of three.

Education

Fitchburg State offers undergraduate and graduate programs with an emphasis on career-orientated learning that is firmly grounded in the liberal arts, as well as selected majors in the traditional arts and sciences.

Research

The university features small class sizes, hands-on professional education, and an accessible faculty dedicated to teaching. A compact campus provides the added bonus of a secure community where social and cultural activities abound and students assume a wide-range of leadership roles in the community, student government and social and artistic affairs.

Career

College Central is the primary job site where Fitchburg State students and alumni may register with the Career Center, post their resume, search jobs, and receive career development and employment related announcements. Registration and use is free to our students and alumni.

The teaching skills

The skills and ways we were taught was very good and practical.Even in universities we the students must put in 90% of the work(studying) but i think the lectures have made it very simple for me and actually 50% from me would even be more than enough. So the teaching skills are one of the most positive things about the school
