Since 1451 the College of Arts has been at the forefront of delivering world-leading teaching, learning and research in the arts and humanities. Over the last five centuries we have worked to push the boundaries of what’s possible. We’ve fostered the talents of seven Nobel laureates, two Prime Ministers and Scotland’s inaugural First Minister.
The College of Arts is one of four inter-disciplinary colleges which make up the University of Glasgow. We are home the Arts and Humanities subject areas such as: Art History; Music; Literature; Translation; Archaeology and Information Studies. The College is home to excellent research in a number of areas. In 2017 we were awarded a Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Higher Education, the highest accolade for any higher education institution, for our work on the Historical Thesaurus of English.
