About

History

  • Chatham University is a nearly 150-year old educational institution in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania that today has over 2,100 undergraduate and graduate students in over 60 degree programs studying on campus or online.
  • Chatham was chartered on December 11, 1869, under the name Pennsylvania Female College.
  • In 1890 the name of the institution was changed to Pennsylvania College for Women

Education

Chatham offers over 40 undergraduate majors and over 20 graduate programs in sustainability, the health & lab sciences, business & communication, and the arts & humanities. Programs are offered on-campus and online, and across our three locations: Shadyside Campus, Chatham Eastside and the net zero, Eden Hall Campus.

Research

The primary purpose of the Office of Institutional Research is to facilitate the collection, analysis, and interpretation of institutional data and to provide the accurate and timely information to support the University planning and decision making.

Services

Student services

Student Activities at Chatham University is committed to student involvement on Chatham's campus and in the community. The office, which is located in the Carriage House, provides quality programming, events, activities, leadership and co-curricular opportunities to enrich students' out-of-classroom experience, maintains the Carriage House as the living room of campus, and helps advise Chatham's student organizations.

Housing services

Upper class students overwhelmingly agree that one of the best parts of living on campus as a First Year student is having a roommate. All incoming residential students complete a Roommate Survey once they are accepted to the University. The Office of Residence Life & Student Activities - Student Affairs matches roommates according to their study & sleep habits and co-curricular interests.

Library services

The Jennie King Mellon Library serves the information needs of Chatham University faculty whether on ground or online.

Medical services

As part of a holistic approach to student development, Health Services offers a variety of educational programs in health and wellness for the campus community in cooperation with the Office of Student Affairs and various other departments on campus. The Student Health Center provides basic first aid intervention, illness and injury assessment, and starter doses of over-the-counter medication.
