Eastern Oregon University (EOU) is one of seven state-funded, four-year universities of higher education in the State of Oregon. Located in La Grande, Oregon, the school offers bachelor's and master's degrees. Most students obtain a B.S. degree, which requires one quarter of science, whereas a B.A. degree requires two years of a foreign language.  

History

Eastern Oregon University was founded in 1929 as a teacher’s college and today serves as a center for education, culture, and scholarship in rural areas of Oregon. At EOU students receive personal attention from their professors while building strong relationships with peers and mentors. 

Education

Academic programs at Eastern Oregon University offer the opportunity to learn in a small classroom setting in beautiful rural Oregon. With four colleges, students can choose from more than 30 academic programs, including sciences, humanities, teaching, and business! The purpose of institutional research is to collect, analyze and report institutional data and support information needs at system-wide, campus-wide and individual unit level.

Career

Eastern Oregon University Career Services offers in-person coaching and online resources to help students broaden the perspective of their career choices and to understand the value of their education in relation to employment. This includes outreach to all students in all academic programs, on and off campus coupled with outreach to employers, service providers and government agencies.

Student services

Students come to the Counseling Center for a variety of reasons. Some are looking for help in coping with the pressures associated with a challenging academic environment or adjustment to college life.  

Housing services

Housing and Residence Life at Eastern Oregon University is an auxiliary unit and as such functions both as a business and as an educational enterprise of the institution. The goal of Housing and Residence Life is to provide comfortable, clean, safe and inclusive living environments for students and other University guests at a reasonable cost. 

Library services

Pierce Library supports the institutional mission of Eastern Oregon University by providing materials and services for all members of the college community. It supports the regional mission of the college by providing materials and services in connection with institutional outreach programs, through cooperative participation in regional library networks. 

ICT services

In the common areas of the halls as well as resident rooms Wi-Fi is now available. There are computer labs throughout the campus for all students to use. They are located in Loso Hall, Hoke Union Building, Inlow Hall, Pierce Library and Zabel Hall.  

Medical services

Severe injuries or illnesses occurring after hours can be evaluated at the Grande Ronde Hospital Emergency Department at the student’s expense. Grande Ronde Hospital is located at: 900 Sunset Avenue, La Grande, Oregon. 

Campus life

Our newest residence halls, North and Daugherty, were completed in January of 2006. These halls offer suite-style living, something typically not available for first-year students, and provide residents with a high quality environment to learn, live and have fun.

Accreditation

The University has been continuously accredited since 1931 by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities and its predecessor agencies. EOU’s most recent comprehensive evaluation was the Mission Fulfillment and Sustainability Self-Evaluation, conducted in the fall of 2018. EOU’s next scheduled NWCCU evaluation will be a mid-cycle evaluation and visit in the fall of 2021.

Love to be a Mountaineer?

It has been a great university for me! I have been able to do all of my schooling remotely and have been very supported by all staff I have come in contact with
