Do you want to go to a college where you can truly make a difference? At PC, you can do that as soon as you step on campus. You’ll learn from a distinguished faculty whose No. 1 priority is your success. Small class sizes allow you to develop close relationships with your peers and faculty members.

History

Presbyterian College (otherwise known as PC) was founded in 1880 by Dr. William Plumer Jacobs. Dr. Jacobs arrived in Clinton, South Carolina in 1864, following the devastation of the Civil War, and he dreamed of building an orphanage in the area. In October of 1875, Thornwell Orphanage opened its doors to 10 orphaned children.

Education

The compelling purpose of Presbyterian College, as a church-related college, is to develop within the framework of Christian faith the mental, physical, moral, and spiritual capacities of each student in preparation for a lifetime of personal and vocational fulfillment and responsible contribution to our democratic society and the world community.

Research

Our students are encouraged to get involved with student research and exploration. They often join faculty members as research assistants on their on-going research projects providing a one-to-one learning relationship.  Other students conduct their own independent studies.  All of these efforts move education beyond textbooks and lectures to encourage active learning, enriching the academic experience.

Career

Career readiness is our focus. Our team assists students in exploring majors and careers and connects them to internships and employers to gain experience. We partner with local, regional and national employers and alumni to find meaningful internships and career opportunities. It’s never too early – or too late – to visit us and plan your future!
