Housing services

  • In a student dormitory (CROUS): Student rooms of the CROUS are furnished and exonerated from taxes and at a reasonable price.
  • Rent a flat: It is possible to rent a flat from a private landlord or through a real estate agency. 
  • Housing insurance: You need to get housing insurance in case of troubles. Student mutuals or banks offer packages that include Social Security and/or the mutual, housing insurance and civil liability. 
  • Housing assistance: You can benefit from housing assistance. You must have justification of a residence permit for non-EU students or a European health insurance form for European citizens. To get it, you must ask the Caisse d’Allocations Familiales and have a French bank account. 

Library services

  • A network of libraries in different sites of UBFC is available. In addition to public libraries and media centers, each higher education establishment offers libraries and media centers. 
  • The City Libraries offer a network of many sites made up of several libraries and provides all types of documentary resources for everyone (free internet access, cultural meeting points). 

ICT services

  • Students can get a free access to the internet on computers at the university, in internet cafés etc. 
  • They can also get free Wifi at the university and in many places in the campuses and around. The housing buildings on campus also have an access to the internet. 
  • In each building, there are a computer room and a meeting and TV room. 

Medical services

  • For any health advice, ask the SUMPPS - University Department for Preventive Medicine and Health Promotion - on campus. 
  • If you need to find a duty doctor during the night, on weekend or a free day, dial 3624 to find a doctor. 
  • To find the 24-hour pharmacy the closest to you, you can call 3915 (0.15 € all taxes included/ min). Otherwise, call 15 (SAMU) or 18 (firemen), free calls. 

Student Life

Campus life

  • UBFC members are located at 13 sites in the Bourgogne – Franche-Comté area. In every site, one can find numerous grocery stores and supermarkets in towns, and department stores in the outskirts close to the universities. Big department stores are generally open from Monday to Saturday. Certain businesses are even open on Sunday. 
  • A large range of choices is available for eating outside of home: university restaurant, cafes, bars, pizzerias, neighborhood restaurants, etc. The university restaurant is the cheapest solution for a complete and balanced meal. The CROUS offers students many types of university restaurants: the university restaurant (called the Resto U) and the cafeterias. 

Sports facilities

Being a multi-site federal university, UBFC offers many activities throughout the year on its campuses. Collective sports, fitness, gym, fighting sports, swimming, climbing etc. Ski and other trips are also possible. There are:

  • numerous gymnasiums, stadiums, fields and sports complexes

  • shooting ranges

Natural spaces appreciated for the practice of numerous leisure and outdoor activities (climbing, mountain biking, circuit hikes) are available. Interesting possibilities for water sports are also offered. Regular evenings-out at major sport events: football matches, basket-ball, handball, ice-hockey, etc.  are organized.
