TEDI-London is the brainchild of three leading names in engineering education. Arizona State University, King’s College London and UNSW Sydney were already working together to tackle global problems as part of the PLuS Alliance when they saw need for more diverse, creative-thinking engineering students. TEDI-London was the answer.
Students will work on real-life projects from day one. These projects will be real-life industry challenges and will be co-designed and delivered with employers. The projects will be supported by one-to-one mentoring and group work.A mixture of individual and group projects will allow students to develop teamwork, problem solving, project management and leadership skills in addition to developing their technical competence and critical thinking.Projects will be developed around key themes or disciplines such as computing and robotics, smart cities, energy and sustainability.
With 60% of the world’s population set to live in urban areas by 2050, designing for smart cities, smart technologies and urban planning are just some of our topics that are focused on tackling real global challenges.Other areas include user-centred design, simulation and robotics. We are also planning a project for students to develop a small-scale eco-house – a design which students will be encouraged to improve year-on-year! At TEDI-London you will be making things in our creative makerspaces from day one, and applying your knowledge, competencies and expertise to this. You will work on collaborative projects with industry making real difference to the community in a way that is fun, creative and challenging.
As a society we are on the cusp of a technological revolution that is changing the way we work, live and socialise with each other. The increasing need for engineers in our ever-changing world has resulted in an estimated annual shortage of over 50,000 engineers in the UK. TEDI-London’s aim is to develop professional engineers who are equipped with skills for the future job market. The core skills gained while training and working in engineering set engineers up for an incredible horizon of career experiences and opportunities.Design engineers can be employed across a range of industries including aerospace, automotive, manufacturing, civil, environmental, bio-medical (computer engineering) and more.

We provide a broad range of services to help ensure that you can achieve in your studies and support you in wider aspects of student life, such as with your health and wellbeing, your finances and your future career. The TEDI-London Student Hub is your one-stop shop for support, guidance and accessing our services. Staff here will give you advice on a range of topics including academic support, wellbeing and welfare, finance, accommodation, and can signpost you to relevant support within and outside TEDI-London. Our Wellbeing Service incorporates Counselling, Therapy and Mental Health mentoring, and you can access this specialist level of support throughout your time with us.
At TEDI-London, we don’t have our own accommodation. But the campus’s excellent travel links mean you can either live locally or look further afield.We have strong relationships with well-respected providers of student accommodation. So, we’ll be able to help, whether you are looking for a room in halls, private student housing, a flat or house share. We want to make sure you are well supported and feel safe and secure as we understand where you live is an important part of your student experience.
Instead of a traditional library, TEDI-London uses something called ‘The Learning Tree’. This is an online matrix of topics that TEDI-London students will use to gain the subject knowledge necessary to complete their practical projects and ultimately, their degrees. Comprised of nodes that build up to modules, the Learning Tree is delivered through a self-paced virtual learning environment.
We offer full ICT support to our students, with high-speed internet access throughout our campus.
The new TEDI-London Campus in Canada Water, London, will become one of the area’s landmarks. It combines sustainable development with a unique modular design. Four of these modules will house a makerspace for students: a place to come together to conceive, create and collaborate. From small prototyping and 3D printing through to large-scale equipment, you’ll have everything you need to develop your ideas and grow your skills.Meanwhile, the remaining spaces are home to the other sides of student life. There’s a double height cafeteria, event and exhibition spaces, conference and teaching rooms, plus places you can use to worship, meditate or reflect.
Our students are affiliate members of the King’s College London Students’ Union. As such they can access sports facilities such as the gym, swimming pool and sports pitches. As TEDI-London grows, we will support our students to set-up their own sports teams.
Our students are affiliate members of the King’s College London Students’ Union. As such they can access around 300 societies and activity groups including everything from Art Society to Ukulele Society. As TEDI-London grows, we will support our students to set-up their clubs, events and societies.
Our degree programmes have been designed to meet the accreditation requirements of the Institution of Engineering and Technology and the Institution of Engineering Designers.
