Oxford Summer Courses

Oxford Summer Courses is a provider of premium academic programmes for young people aged 9–24, delivered in inspiring UK settings including Oxford and Cambridge. Founded by University of Oxford graduates, we offer personalised learning in small classes, guided by expert tutors. The courses encourage independent thought, intellectual curiosity.

History

Founded in 2010 by University of Oxford graduates, Oxford Summer Courses was created to share exceptional academic experiences beyond traditional classrooms. Beginning in Oxford, the organisation expanded to Cambridge and other UK locations, developing personalised courses that encourage independent thought, intellectual curiosity, and meaningful cultural exchange.

Education

The teaching is built around personalised learning and independent thought. Small class sizes allow tutors to adapt each course to students’ interests, questions, and ways of thinking, rather than following a fixed curriculum. Through seminars, discussion, and one-to-one tutorials, students are encouraged to explore ideas in depth, challenge perspectives, and develop confidence in their own thinking. Tutors act as academic guides, shaping sessions in real time to create an engaging, university-style learning experience that values curiosity, dialogue, and intellectual exploration.

Career

Oxford Summer Courses programmes support students as they explore academic interests and understand where their curiosity may lead. By learning in small groups, guided by expert tutors, students gain confidence articulating ideas, questioning assumptions, and engaging with complex topics. Exposure to new perspectives, subjects, and ways of thinking helps students make more informed choices about further study and career direction.

Rather than prescribing outcomes, our programmes encourage independent thought, intellectual maturity, and self-awareness—qualities that underpin thoughtful decision-making and long-term personal and professional growth.

Student services

Oxford Summer Courses provides comprehensive student services designed to support wellbeing, confidence, and day-to-day life on course. Dedicated on-course staff are available to offer guidance, pastoral support, and practical assistance throughout the programme. Students have access to welfare-trained teams, clear safeguarding structures, and age-appropriate supervision where required.

From arrival to departure, support is in place to help students settle into their accommodation, navigate their academic experience, and feel comfortable in a new environment. These services create a safe, inclusive community, allowing students to focus on learning, build independence, and make the most of their time on course.

Housing services

Oxford Summer Courses offers accommodation in carefully selected academic and residential settings that reflect the character of each location. Students typically stay in university colleges or prestigious schools, providing a comfortable and inspiring environment aligned with their studies.

Accommodation is age-appropriate, fully supervised where required, and designed to support both independence and wellbeing. Rooms are secure and well maintained with shared or single options depending on location and age group. Dedicated residential staff are on hand to provide pastoral support, creating a safe, welcoming community where students can settle in, form friendships, and focus fully on their learning experience.

Medical services

Oxford Summer Courses ensures students have access to appropriate healthcare throughout their stay. Staff are trained to respond to medical needs and can assist students in accessing local GP surgeries, pharmacies, or NHS services. For younger students, supervision and support are provided at all times. Clear procedures are in place for medical concerns, emergencies, and medication management.

Campus life

Oxford Summer Courses operates across multiple locations rather than a single campus. Academic buildings and accommodation are typically within walking distance of one another and close to the city centre, allowing students to engage easily with their surroundings. Locations are well connected and situated near everyday amenities such as supermarkets, cafés, pharmacies, and local shops. On site or nearby facilities usually include dining halls or canteens, common areas for study and socialising, and access to essential services. This setup provides both convenience and an authentic experience of life in a historic academic city.

Sports facilities

Oxford Summer Courses provides access to a range of sports and recreational facilities, depending on location. Students typically have use of college or school sports grounds, which may include playing fields, courts, and indoor spaces for activities such as football, tennis, basketball, or fitness sessions. Organised sports, games, and informal recreational activities are included as part of the wider programme, encouraging balance between academic study and physical wellbeing. Facilities are supervised where appropriate and integrated into a structured schedule that supports health, social connection, and enjoyment alongside learning.

Accreditation

Oxford Summer Courses is an award-recognised education provider, accredited by the British Accreditation Council for the provision of short courses. This accreditation reflects our commitment to academic quality, student welfare, and organisational integrity. Over the years, the organisation has also been recognised for its growth, culture, and social impact, including inclusion in the Financial Times 1000 and the Sunday Times Fast Track rankings.

These acknowledgements reflect a sustained focus on delivering thoughtful, well-designed educational experiences, underpinned by strong governance, experienced teams, and a clear commitment to doing education properly.
