Incorporated as an independent higher education institution in 1989, the University's origins can be traced back to a private School of Art founded in 1856. Mergers between Southampton College of Art, the College of Technology and the College of Nautical Studies at Warsash laid the foundations for what is now Solent University.

StudentCom is the exclusive provider of broadband services in Solent University student residences. You will register for your internet service before you move into your student residence via the student residences online induction. This will take place once you have received the offer of a room in residences.

Solent Students' Union is run by you! Yes, that's right, you have all the power when it comes to the Students' Union. You elect representatives who offer academic representation, campaign on your behalf, and represent your views to University management.
But the SU is more than just elections! You can join societies or even start a new one for yourself if you can't find what you're looking for. Societies range from SONAR Media, who run a radio station, magazine and cinema (all of which you can be involved with), to arts and crafts!
Solent University is fully accredited by Creative Skillset for a range of courses including broadcast technology, animation, game design and media technology. This accreditation is saved for institutions offering training on the cutting-edge of media technology.

Staff are lovely and are clearly passionate about teaching. Always supportive. The way they teach is great (Part in class learning, part placement). The interviewing process was easy and the admissions team quickly responded to applicants.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time and would highly recommend it to others. There is great support for students, with super helpful staff who will go out of their way to ensure all your issues are catered to, it has superb facilities catering to all your needs and wants with great resources to help with all your essays and exams.
Good campus overall - like it here, most staff are friendly and students are great. My course is good as well and I enjoy coming into campus, as I commute in. It's definitely worth coming to an open day and checking it out for yourself.
