The Stockholm School of Economics opened its doors to its first students for more than 100 years ago, in 1909. In time, SSE outgrew these premises and in 1926 the School moved into newly constructed quarters at Sveavägen 65, the address of the main building to this day.
Today the building is flanked by newer buildings and a number of additional premises are located in nearby blocks.

At SSE we have a small housing office that offers rooms and apartments to some of our international master students, incoming exchange students, PhD students, guest researchers and visitors affiliated with SSE. Below you can see what we can offer and also read more about what might suit you. Since Stockholm is a highly attractive city in many ways, the selection is limited and we can’t – unfortunately – offer housing possibilities to all of our applicants. We, therefore, recommend you to keep your eyes and engagement wide open and start looking for alternatives as soon as you can.
The library's mission is to be the principal information resource for SSE students, researchers and staff.
To study in Stockholm is to broaden your horizons in a metropolitan jewel – encrusted with beautiful archipelago islands, sweeping green parks and nature reserves, Stockholm is regarded by many to be one of Europe’s most beautiful capitals with its many bridges connecting the islands that make up the city center.
Stockholm is known to pick up quickly on international influences. With a broad ethnic spectrum, the latest trends within fashion, culture, art, and music quickly take root. Restaurants with cuisine from every corner of the world jostle with cafés, pubs and night clubs, galleries and museums, large shopping centres and unique boutiques.
If you join the Sports Club, HAIK, you can take part in all sport activities. We book everything from tennis courses to soccer fields on a weekly basis, and you can exercise together with a coach and fellow students. Previous experience never matters and you don’t have to commit to anything – try out everything and exercise as much as you want.
You can also join one of our teams and compete in both national and international tournaments. Our American football team, Handels Traders, has placed 1st and 2nd in the national championships in recent years, while being cheered on by SSE Cheer and the supporter club, Insiders.
