History
The School of Mathematics, Statistics and Actuarial Science (SMSAS) moved into the multi-million pound Sibson Building in March 2017. This vibrant new campus destination brings together academics, students, researchers and administrative staff from both SMSAS and Kent Business School (KBS).
Education
Much of science is based upon the application of Mathematics. It provides the theoretical framework for physical sciences, for Statistics and data analysis, as well as for computer science.
The School of Mathematics, Statistics and Actuarial Science (SMSAS) offers a range of single and joint honours degrees, postgraduate diploma programmes, Master's programmes and research programmes. Distinctive offerings include an option for students who wouldn't otherwise be eligible for degree level studies to take a Foundation Year, as well as a four year MMath programme.

The SMSAS Student Support Office (SSO) provides a range of different services to help identify and deliver pastoral and wellbeing care during your studies. Support is provided for your own personal development and to help to minimise any impact that your circumstances may have on your academic work.

Campus life
The School of Mathematics, Statistics and Actuarial Science (SMSAS) moved into the multi-million pound Sibson Building in March 2017. This vibrant new campus destination brings together academics, students, researchers and administrative staff from both SMSAS and Kent Business School (KBS). The unique W-shaped building includes state-of-the-art equipment, social, and study spaces for students and staff. There are also IT suites, three lecture theatres, seminar rooms, and a café.
Accreditation
The Centre for Actuarial Science, Risk and Investment (CASRI) is based within the School and is one of just three university providers of programmes in Actuarial Science that are accredited by the UK Actuarial Profession. The Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Royal Statistical Society are among the other institutions that recognise the rigour and relevance of our programmes.
