History
Our University started out as a teacher training college in the 1960s in response to a national shortage of teachers. Today we continue to shape our courses and research around critical social issues both nationally and globally.
Education
Canterbury Christ Church University offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in many subject areas including teacher education, health and medicine, digital and creative arts, humanities, social and applied sciences, and technology and engineering.

The modern, multi-campus university is home to around 15,000 students, around one-fifth of whom are postgraduate students.Research

Library services
Our libraries at Canterbury, Medway and Salomons Institute contain study spaces and modern facilities to suit different working styles, with access to books, print journals, e-journals, e-books through LibrarySearch. While the main function of the Library is to serve members of the University, we are proud to provide our community access and act as a point of reference for educational providers within the region.
Campus life
Canterbury Christ Church University is a modern university, one among a handful in the UK with a campus on a World Heritage Site. Our unique location gives you the chance to study right in the heart of a cosmopolitan and historic cathedral city.
When you join us at Canterbury Christ Christ Church, you will study at one of two distinctive and unique campuses in Kent and Medway. Kent is known as ‘The Garden of England’, and with good reasons. Beautiful countryside, picturesque villages, stunning coastal scenery and cosmopolitan city life. It is also the perfect gateway to the rest of the UK and continental Europe.
Sports facilities
Over 1,200 of our students regularly compete in a variety of sports with other universities and our Sports Scholarships scheme supports around 40 talented young athletes every year, including a world record-holder and several international competitors.
The University is the main sponsor of the Kent Women’s Cricket team and has partnerships with a range of local and regional clubs and organisations, including Polo Farm Sports Club in Canterbury where the University has invested £2m to develop a new indoor sports centre and teaching space for our students and club members.
