History
- Robert College was founded in Istanbul,Turkey, by Dr.Cyrus Hamlin,an educator, inventor, technician, architect and builder, and Mr. Christopher Rheinlander Robert, a well-known philanthropist and a wealthy merchant from New York.
- On September 10, 1971, Bogazici University was officially established on what had been the Robert College campus for over one hundred years.

- Boğaziçi University supports scientific research by using its internal resources through BAP; For access to national and international project resources, TTO A.Ş. provides information, training and project writing services. Another task of TTO A.Ş. is to bring the university together with the industry, to develop joint projects and to regulate intellectual property rights and working conditions through contracts.

Student services
BÜREM is the counseling center for Bogaziçi University students, offering a variety of services to students including individual and group counseling.For an appointment, students have to come to BUREM and fill out an application form.Intermediate level of English is required to use individual counseling services.

Library services
Bogaziçi University Library is having 481.616 books, 79.921 electronic journal and newspaper, 3.256.021 e-books, 620 printed journal and 194 interactive database, 2.283 books written in Braille alphabet and voice-books. Approximately 4.500 researchers and students visit the library daily.
ICT services
Internet access is provided free of charge to all students in all dormitories.
Medical services
BU’s main Health Center (in turkish “mediko” or “revir”), is located on the Main or “South” Campus. It provides health services to all students, university workers and faculty members. All services at the center are provided free of charge to all graduate and undergraduate students, including all international students.
Campus life
Many of the University's buildings are located on its South Campus, with the Bosphorus and the historical castle of Rumelihisar as its boundary to the east. This campus encompasses the oldest buildings of the University. The North Campus, Hisar Campus, and Uçaksavar Campus host the relatively recently acquired facilities and are at walking distances from South Campus. The Kandilli Campus, housing the observatory, is on the Asian side of the Bosphorus. Saritepe Campus, near Kilyos on the Black Sea coast is 34 km from South Campus.

Sports facilities
- The University provides a comprehensive sports program in addition to the extra - curricular activities listed above. Soccer, basketball, volleyball, tennis and rowing are extremely popular.
- Matches and exhibitions are held throughout the academic year. An out-doors swimming pool is open to all students, located on the South Campus. Table tennis, handball, wrestling, tracking and cross-country are also included in the sports program of the University.
- A sports complex including a soccer and track field and a gymnasium with all the training equipment exists on the Ucaksavar Campus. The Sports Corrdinator will be glad to provide more information on the sports program at the University to interested students.
