The Norwich School of Design is founded in 1845 by the artists and followers of the Norwich School of Painters, the only provincial British group to establish an international reputation for landscape painting.

Our research was recognised in the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2014, with 19% of the overall quality of the University’s submission judged as ‘world leading’ and 36% as ‘internationally excellent’. This result endorses the broader research environment at NUA, which provides staff and students with a rich context in which to experiment, to question and to practice.

The Teaching Excellence and Student Outcomes Framework saw NUA awarded Gold overall and recognised for our ‘exemplary employability initiatives’. NUA won a Guardian Award for the best Employability and Entrepreneurship and was shortlisted in the Times Higher Education Awards.
