History

Wrexham Glyndŵr University started in 2008 and is named after a Welsh scholar and hero called Owain Glyndŵr. We are proud to be named after a man who cherished learning, loved his country, embraced an international outlook, and constantly demonstrated an inspiring and enterprising approach to life. His spirit lies at the heart of Wrexham Glyndŵr University.

Student services

Moving away to University can be a big change, but there are lots of services available offering you support and guidance, helping you adapt to your new life.

You’re bound to have questions that need answering during your studies with us and our friendly ASK team are on hand to help. You’ll be able to access support and assistance in a wide range of areas from academic procedures and enrolment, accommodation, and induction through to where to go for health care support, ID card replacement, timetables, graduation and everything in between. If we can’t answer your question ourselves, we are also in the know for who to ask, so we can soon put you in touch with the relevant person within the University. 

Housing services

Wrexham Village offers unrivalled student accommodation. The two purpose built accommodation buildings offer 321 en-suite bedrooms divided into 6, 7 and 8 living quarters that share a fully equipped communal kitchen and living area; perfect for relaxing and socialising with fellow students, friends and colleagues.

Library services

Wrexham Glyndŵr University's library offers a wide range of information resources to support your studies in a comfortable and flexible learning environment.We have over 100,000 books, DVDs and other learning resources in the Edward Llwyd Centre on the Wrexham Plas Coch Campus.

ICT services

We have excellent computer facilities located close to where you need them. There are facilities with dedicated course software within subject areas as well as general open access facilities in the library and study areas around campus. A recent investment has expanded our WiFi wireless access across the whole campus, increasing the flexibility of where you can study.

Medical services

At Wrexham Glyndwr University we are dedicated to creating a supportive environment where you can be sure that meeting your needs will be at the heart of all we do. We are a university known for the excellent care and support we offer – that is why we have such a diverse student population and a great record of helping people to reach their potential. 

Campus life

Wrexham Glyndwr University’s campuses reflect our specialisms as well as hosting a range of facilities to meet the needs of students - we have your studying and entertainment needs covered. Each campus has its own distinct character, identity and purpose and is an asset to not only our student population, but also its community and the businesses in the region.

Facilities are vast and diverse, as you’d expect of a main campus. From our engineering facilities tailored to our course specialisms of aeronautics, performance cars, mechanics and electrics through to our dedicated centres to support our education courses; the Centre for the Child, Family and Society; and our creative arts courses. 

Sports facilities

Wrexham, along with the rest of Wales, is extremely passionate about its sport, which is one of the defining features of this part of the world. Not only is this reflected in the sport and leisure offering at Wrexham Glyndwr University, but the region itself is home to professional and semi-professional sports clubs which offer up some great entertainment for sports fans. There will be ample opportunities to take part and perhaps try something completely different, whilst making some great friends in the process.

So whether you're an active participant or you're just happy to support from the comfort of your seat, Wrexham and the local area has something for everyone. 

Student clubs

Our SU and their team of sabbatical officers host a regular programme of events, including Freshers’ Week celebrations to Summer balls and Christmas parties. 

Our Student Bar, The Cent, forms the hub for student entertainment and is a great place to hang out. As you would expect it is a focal point to meet new friends from your course and to go out with your room mates. It is the place to be to relax and socialise on campus.
