Transport and telecommunication institute (lat. Transporta un sakaru institūts – TSI) – is a modern university with the centennial history. TSI – is the university-successor of the legendary RKIIGA (Riga Red-Banner Civil Aviation Institute) and RAU (Riga Aviation University).

About

History

In the present-day appearance TSI was established in 1999. Nowadays TSI – is the only one private technical higher educational institution in Latvia, where you can get higher education in Latvian and English languages. The Institute received permanent accreditation in Latvia as a higher education institution.  Other official documents of TSI you can find here.

Education

The Institute provides with the academic programs in the following directions: transport and logistics, computer sciences, electronics and telecommunication, economics and management, aviation transport. In June 2013 all education directions of TSI received accreditation for the maximum period – 6 years.

Research

TSI is conducting  the  diversified research scientific work. According to the results of expert evaluation Transport and Telecommunication Institute is the only one among private colleges included in the list of leading scientific institutions, acting in Latvia. Also year 2014, in the rating of “Latvijas Avīze”, TSI achieved excellent results taking honourable second place among private institutions of higher education in Latvia!

Housing services

Home Student Hotel is located just across the street of Transport and Telecommunication Institute. The Hotel is around 15 minutes’ walk from city Center, close to the railway station and near the beautiful park. For a great fill, there is famous restaurant “LIDO” with traditional Latvian cuisine only in 10 minutes’ walk away from the Hotel. Near “LIDO” during time from 10-00 to 21-00 “MOLS”, “SKY” and “mc2” – well-known shopping centres are open. Also, a nice food store “RIMI” just in 5 minutes’ walk

Student Life

Student clubs

Transport and Telecommunication Institute (TSI) has it's own Robotics Club. Here, students can apply the knowledge acquired in the technical studies. Students from different study years and programmes combine their efforts to create robots. The club also hosts special lectures, where students can learn a lot of new and interesting things.

The organizers and participants of the club want to achieve success in robots’ competitions in Latvia and Europe! We began with the organization of the robots’ competition in TSI, which took place on March 28th 2014. TSI teams also were quite successful in Latvian Robotics Championship in 2014.
