The Poznan University of Life Sciences takes a leading position in rankings of universities of life sciences and biological sciences in Poland. At present we have over 12 000 students, and 1500 employees. Our eight Faculties offer a wide scope of education within 22 fields of study and over 30 specialisations, including Biology, Biotechnology, Landscape Architecture, Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Wood technology, Environmental Protection, Animal Science, Food Technology, etc.

PhD Programmes



The Pozna´n University of Life Sciences is a leading university of life sciences in Poland. It may boast of rich traditions, as its beginnings date back to the year 1870 and are connected with the activity of an outstanding philosopher, a patron of agricultural science and education, August Cieszkowski.


We provide education within a 3-level system:

  • studies for the degree of Engineer or undergraduate (bachelor) studies
  • graduate studies ending with a Master's degree
  • doctoral studies (PhD)

All our faculties have an extensive offer of postgraduate studies.


Research conducted by the University staff is connected e.g. with:

  • the National Plan for Development,
  • the Development Strategy for the Wielkopolskie Province by the year 2020,
  • Guidelines for the national policy for science, science and technology and innovations by the year 2020,
  • governmental programmes for Forest Policy,
  • Renewable Energy Sources,
  • the UN Convention on biodiversity, etc.


Library services

The Main Library together with its two branches and specialist libraries forms a library and information system of our University. Its collection comprises 721 336 thousand volumes. Journals collected at the Library include 595 Polish and 143 foreign titles.

Medical services

According to the law, university students are covered by compulsory health insurance. Students up to 26 years of age may be covered by their parents' insurance. To obtain such status, one of the parents should apply for coverage of their son or daughter as a family member.
