Overview
The project is part of an on-going collaboration with NNL to look at the development of technology for the sensitive detection of radionuclides in the environment. The main objectives of the project are to develop scintillant nanoparticles with analyte specificity for fast, low cost analyses of radionuclide mixtures relevant to the NDA estate. The project will involve some chemical synthesis, spectroscopic analysis and advanced analytical techniques to characterise and assess the systems.Programme Structure
The research groups of Dr Ian Fallis and Dr Simon Pope are well equipped to undertake the necessary studies with dedicated office and laboratory space and state of the art equipment including small angle X-ray scattering capability.
