Overview

The specific objectives of the Doctoral Programme in Geosciences (UAveiro/UPorto) at Universidade de Aveiro  will be addressed, through the life cycle of Sustainable Mining (through Sustainable Management and Resource Efficiency, aiming to Reduce Waste Generation) of primary raw materials (in order to ensure a Green Supply Chain Management, through Global Resource Extraction and Efficient Use of Resources, with Life Cycle Assessment), environmental and medical geology studies, particularly in urban environments (with analysis of the effects of Heavy Metal Pollution, Air Pollution and Particulate Matter), and climate change and its interactions with geoenvironments (with a focus on Environmental Change and Climate Hazards, with special emphasis on Sea Level Change, enhancing Disaster Risk Reduction Strategies).

We will promote the collaborative contributions of fundamental and applied geoscience and new sightings to improve the knowledge of the country's geological infrastructure and the assessment of endogenous/exogenous resources (aspiring to Sustainable Supply Chain Management, fostering the Circular Economy through Resource Efficiency, which will enable Environmental Footprint reduction).
