Created in 1973, the University of Aveiro quickly became one of the most dynamic and innovative universities in Portugal. Campus Santiago, overlooking the Aveiro lagoon, is a prize-winning Campus, renowned for its many buildings designed by famous Portuguese architects. Its buildings are purpose-built for teaching and research, administrative and technical support, and include halls of residence for students and staff, libraries, bookshop, canteens, bars and restaurants, sports facilities, laundry, post-office, stores, bank, kindergarten – all this on one campus, surrounded by the natural beauty of the old saltpans and only a short distance from the city centre.

My overall experience has been very positive. I really enjoyed the quality of teaching, the supportive learning environment and the opportunity. to meet students from different backgrounds. The programme has helped me develop both academically and personally. I particularly appreciate the lecturers and the learning opportunities provided. More practical, career-focused opportunities would make the experience even better, but overall it has been very rewarding.
I think the university is great overall. The atmosphere is amazing and it�s easy to meet people and feel part of the community. The courses have a good balance between theoretical and practical learning. The facilities are also very good, with well equipped labs, a large library and an online platform where teachers share materials for students to study. There are also many events that help new students feel welcome and stay engaged throughout the year. Some professors are very passionate about teaching and are always willing to help, while others are more average. One downside is that administrative services can be quite slow, especially when dealing with timetable issues, which can be frustrating.
Great unniversity, with a huge campus. Everyone is connected and that's why it has a great community. The professores are open minded and try to help you as much as they can. Everything is well organized, specially for the new students.
