Overview

The Doctor of Philosophy programme at ISM - International School of Management provides the platform for you to give back to the business community. It equips you for careers of engaged instruction and opens you up to opportunities for original research.

Study for your PhD anywhere in the world, at any time, with our flexible online courses. Choose an e-learning option if you can’t make it to Paris that month, or simply like the look of a subject.

Locations - Paris, with two-week programs available in New York, Shanghai, São Paulo, New Delhi and Cape Town. E-learning courses are an alternative way to study, with the option to take instead of, or alongside our three-day intensive courses in Paris.

PhD graduates should be able to:

  • Make significant intellectual contributions to the body of knowledge in their chosen fields and provide innovative solutions to the day-to-day problems faced in their professional careers.
  • Apply relevant theoretical knowledge to contemporary business problems.
  • Explain and apply a range of quantitative and qualitative research methods frequently used in business research to solve current business management problems.
  • Critically evaluate business research studies in order to assess their quality and applicability in improving the effective handling of business management problems.
  • Acquire and use knowledge of behavioral, policy and strategic issues to improve the effectiveness of their own organizations.
  • Identify, analyze and evaluate internal and external environmental influences on organizations in order to develop strategic plans for the management of change and the development of their organizations.
  • Demonstrate superior oral and written communications skills relevant to business.
  • Link their educational experience directly to their own workplace experience.

Programme Structure

During the program, each candidate must:

  • Validate the teaching requirement: conception and execution of one university-level course
  • Complete Case Study Analyses I & II
  • Successfully complete a doctoral dissertation under the close supervision of an assigned adviser
