Overview

  •  Studying at the faculty is based on fundamental science disciplines and develops through theoretical, specialized and applied subjects to the final orientation in the engineering degree. The scope, structure and representation of compulsory and optional subjects is based on tradition, current needs and comparisons with other faculties of similar focus in Europe.
  • The primary objective of the faculty remains to ensure quality pedagogical and scientific research work, which we want to contribute to increasing the education of our students and their wider application in construction and social practice.
  • Graduates can be employed as creative team members in universities, public and private sectors, by state administrations in the design, development and contractor organizations and wherever there is need for scientific work in the building sector.

General Requirements

To be eligible to apply for the PhD. study, the applicant must have accomplished the second stage of the engineering (Master) study.

The admission procedure to PhD. Study at STU MTF comprises the entrance examination which is obligatory for all applicants. The Examination Committee evaluates:

  • knowledge in engineering (Master) study programme subjects related to the applied PhD. study programme and selected dissertation thesis topic,  
  • prerequisites of the applicant for an independent research in the field of science, technology or art,
  • level of applicant´s expertise.
