Overview

In contrast to many other PhD student programs that aim at a broad recruitment of many candidates, the Biozentrum Fellowship Program offered by University of Basel is awarded on a competitive basis to a maximum of 10 successful candidates per open call.

Recipients are offered a unique rotation-based selection of a research group of choice and a number of other incentives that foster the scientific excellence and the career prospects of these PhD candidates.

University of Basel invites motivated and dedicated students to join our Biozentrum Basel International PhD Program.

These fellowships are unique

Students can select any Biozentrum research group through rotations which offers the chance to learn skills and techniques needed in modern biology.

This is particularly well suited for students with broad interests or who come from fields such as physics, chemistry or computer science. Moreover, this fellowship gives students full and independent funding for their entire PhD and grant additional travel funds.

The fellowships program was launched in 2006. Meanwhile, 52 PhD students from 26 countries − about half of them women − have completed their doctorate. Currently, 41 fellows conduct research at the Biozentrum.
