About the program

Erasmus Graduate School of Law provides a pleasant, supportive and international research environment in which critical reflection, a multidisciplinary approach of the various legal disciplines and the exchange of ideas and experience between PhD researchers and all other members of Erasmus School of Law play a substantial role.

By creating inspiring and dynamic research- and work environments where senior and junior researchers meet and learn from each other, EGSL at Erasmus University Rotterdam aims to deliver outstanding, socially engaged and inspired academic professionals.

Other requirements

General requirements

All PhD candidates must have a master's degree in Law or Criminology.
Candidates must demonstrate relevant scientific research skills and have excellent oral and written skills in English.

When you contact a potential supervisor, please provide him/her with the following application documents:

Application format EGSL, including a short research proposal
A letter of motivation, including information on your present situation;
A CV (including in particular information on study results and grades; publications; grants/prizes; experience abroad; extracurricular activities)
Proof of your Master’s degree, including grade transcripts of your Bachelor and Master studies.
