Erasmus University Rotterdam has been in existence in its present form since 1973. Its history, however, dates back to 1913, the year in which the Netherlands School of Commerce (Nederlandsche Handels-Hoogeschool, NHH) was founded through private initiative with broad support from the Rotterdam business community.
Erasmus University Rotterdam is a highly ranked, international research university, based in the dynamic and diverse city of Rotterdam. The starting point in finding out what you would like to do in the future is YOU! Your future starts now! Studying prepares you for your future career. Thinking about your future career already starts during your first year at university. Thinking and preparing yourself for your career is an ongoing process in every phase of your study at university (and even after!). Important questions to ask in the process of finding out who you are.
Different housing applies for students of Erasmus University College (EUC) and the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS).
First things first: student housing in the Netherlands is not arranged for you by the university; it is your own responsibility. We know this can be a surprise for some of you! There are reserved spots for about 25% of our yearly incoming internationals. Most arrange housing directly with landlords via the private market. We strongly advise you to start looking at least three months before arrival to avoid stress and disappointment, while our housing team works hard to make it easier for you.
The University Library has an extensive collection of books and journals on every subject that is taught at the Erasmus University. The library also supports students and staff in various aspects of their education, teaching and research. Moreover, the library is a nice place to meet, work together and study in silence.
