About the programme
The Department of Food Studies, Nutrition and Dietetics is part of the Faculty of Social Sciences at Uppsala University and employs about 20 persons−professors, researchers, teachers, post doctoral and doctoral students.
Programme Structure
Research projects include:
- The flavorless meal: Patients experiences of, and strategies around, smell and taste disorders
- The role of olfaction in healthy eating among children: The project studies the connection between children’s liking of fruit and vegetables and their sense of smell
- Parental support for overweight and obesity in children
- Effectiveness, mechanisms and implementation of parental support for early childhood obesity in healthcare: research conducted in Sweden and internationally.
- Hospital food and meal services: This project investigates the provision of food and meals to hospital inpatients in relation to the existing complex requirements

A person meets the general entry requirements for PhD Programmes if he or she:
- has been awarded a second-cycle qualification;
- has satisfied the requirements for courses comprising at least 240 credits, of which at least 60 credits were awarded in the second-cycle; or
- has acquired substantially equivalent knowledge in some other way in Sweden or abroad.
