Our American History faculty at the University of Sussex are experts in their fields and active on both sides of the Atlantic. This means you’ll be guided and supervised through your research project by leading practitioners.
Programme Structure
Much of our research focuses on:- US race relations from slavery to civil rights, the Black Power movement and Black Lives Matter
- the Cold War and transnationalism after World War II
- transnational race relations
- the Civil War era
- the history of American racial violence
