Overview
About the programme
The Sport and Health Sciences course at Cardiff Metropolitan University has a strong applied base and has active research programmes in several allied health professions, health, education and community services, physical activity participation and performance sport.
It is home to a number of centres, including the Welsh Centre for Podiatry, the Food Industry Centre, Public Health Wales, the Centre for Health, Activity and Wellbeing, and the Sports Coaching Hub.
Through these centres and Research and Innovation groups our investigative agenda at Cardiff Metropolitan University stretches across health, lifestyle behaviour, and sport and exercise science, with an applied focus at its core.

General requirements
- Candidates applying for research study towards a doctoral award should normally have an upper second class honours (2:1) undergraduate degree or better from a recognised higher education institution or a postgraduate degree or a qualification deemed by the university to be equivalent to this level.
- Depending on your prior research experience it is usual for you to be initially enrolled onto an MRes/PhD or MPhil/PhD.
