Prosthodontics is a component mono-specialty of the field of Restorative Dentistry.
You will learn a broad range of specialist-level skills including:
- prosthodontic management following head and neck cancer care
- prosthodontic management required for acquired maxillofacial and dentoalveolar defects due to:
- maxillofacial trauma
- developmental and congenital abnormalities including cleft lip and palate
- other developmental disturbances of the teeth (e.g. amelogenesis imperfecta, and hypodontia)
You will develop as a leader in the healthcare setting by developing competence in:
- human factors and ergonomics
- leadership and management skills
- clinical governance
- the faculty membership examinations (MFDS) held by the UK Royal Colleges
- the ORE and/or LDS RCS examinations for statutory registration with the General Dental Council (GDC)

- Your degree should be in Dentistry. You will also need two years of clinical experience following graduation with at least 3,000 hours of postgraduate clinical practice. It is desirable that you have passed the Royal College of Surgeons of England's MFDS Part 1 exam.
