About

History

In 1967, after a longstanding relationship with St Andrews, the University of Dundee came into formal existence. From then, Dundee was free to develop in its own way and become the outstanding institution it is today.

Education

The University of Dundee is organised into ten Schools containing multiple disciplines, each with an associated research centre or unit.

The Schools are;

  • Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design

  • School of Education and Social Work
  • School of Humanities
  • School of Life Sciences
  • School of Medicine
  • School of Health Sciences

Each School offers a variety of undergraduate, taught postgraduate and research courses in a wide range of subjects. Most courses are led by research, with students learning from those on the cutting edge of their discipline.

Excellent research requires excellent ideas and Dundee’s research is highly rated by the most recent Research Excellence Framework (2022), which assesses the quality and impact of research submitted by universities across the UK. Furthermore, 84% of the University’s research was found to be ‘world leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’.
