Overview
About the program
Students of our Nuclear Power Engineering program from Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava will:
- learn the principles of independent and teamwork of science, scientific research, scientific formulation of problems, solving complex scientific problems and presenting scientific results in the field of nuclear energy;
- can analyse and solve complex and non-standard scientific and research tasks in the field of nuclear technology and energy, as well as bring original and new solutions;
- can creatively apply the acquired scientific knowledge in practice, finds professional application in various the science, research and industrial sectors in both the public and private sectors, but especially where they are engaged in the issue of increasing nuclear safety in relation to radiation resistance and other properties structural and nuclear materials, research, development and construction of advanced types of nuclear and fusion reactors, nuclear fuel and fuel cycle, use of transmutation technologies, decommissioning of nuclear facilities , management of spent nuclear fuel and radioactive waste, issues of detection, dosimetry and radiation protection, as well as ecological and economic aspects nuclear energy.
Careers
Graduates will be employed in research, in the development and construction of all nuclear facilities, advanced types of nuclear and fusion reactors, nuclear fuel and fuel cycle, in the decommissioning of nuclear facilities from the plant, the management of spent fuel and radioactive waste, including their storage and disposal. They understand the issues of radiation detection, dosimetry and radiation protection, as well as the environmental, economic and , above all, safety aspects of nuclear energy. They will be applied in the application of new scientific knowledge from nuclear technology in the academic sphere and in practice in the Slovak Republic and abroad.
