Overview

The Cancer Science (Clinician) programme offered by University of Oxford is aimed at fully-qualified medical doctors who are, or are eligible to be, registered clinical practitioners with the General Medical Council (GMC).

Features

As a doctoral student on this course, you will be based in a single research group/laboratory to undertake a research project for three years on a full-time basis. You will be admitted to work under the supervision of a Principal Investigator who is formally appointed as your DPhil supervisor.
You will undertake a selected research project from the list advertised in the course's "Clinical/Medical Undergraduates" project booklet. There is no period of rotation between laboratories.

A qualified doctor, at any stage of training from the foundation training to higher specialist training and;
A first-class or strong upper second-class undergraduate degree with honours in a relevant discipline such as biology, biochemistry, or medicine.
Entrance is expected to be very competitive and it is anticipated that most successful applicants will have a first-class degree or the equivalent.
For applicants with a bachelor's degree from the USA, the minimum overall GPA that is normally required to meet the undergraduate-level requirement is 3.5 out of 4.0. However, entrance is expected to be very competitive and it is anticipated that most successful applicants will have a GPA of 3.7 or higher.
