Overview
The Cardiovascular Science (VascularRewind) programme offered by University of Oxford will provide a rigorous and enriching training experience that will equip you with skills to tackle complex challenges in vascular disease.
It is built around a multidisciplinary framework combining molecular biology, data science, engineering, imaging, and clinical research. The structure of the course ensures that you receive broad foundational training in your first year, before progressing to focused research projects in the remaining three years. During all four years of the course you will receive a tailored programme designed to broaden your research and professional skills.

- All students will begin with a cohort-wide induction covering essential research skills, laboratory and safety training, along with foundational principles in cardiovascular science. This is followed by two 12-week training projects in distinct disciplines, interspersed with a bespoke selection of project-relevant specialised training courses.
- The training projects will enable you to explore diverse approaches and environments before starting your main project.

Curriculum
- The first year will include training in the first six months through a series of taught courses covering a wide range of topics including essential research skills, laboratory and safety training, along with foundational principles in cardiovascular science.
- You will complete two 12-week training projects in distinct disciplines, ranging from wet-lab biology to computational modelling, imaging, bioengineering, or placements with academic or industry partners. These will be interspersed with a bespoke selection of project-relevant specialised training courses.

General requirements
- A first-class or strong upper second-class undergraduate degree with honours in a relevant biological science subject.
- For clinically qualified applicants, please apply to other Oxford DPhil courses.
- For applicants with a degree from the USA, the minimum GPA sought is 3.5 out of 4.0.
- Research or working experience in a relevant field may be an advantage.
- Whilst not required, publications demonstrating previous research success in a relevant field is likely to advantage your application.
