The University was founded in the 1960s, with Princess Alexandra as its first Chancellor. Ever since, Lancaster’s goal has been to help make higher education accessible to everyone.

Housing services
Our comfortable accommodation provides the perfect base for campus life, with options to suit different preferences and budgets. Adapted rooms are available for students with disabilities, and we also offer family flats for students with young children.
Accommodation on campus is located within the colleges, creating a ready-made community around your living space. You’ll be close to friendly faces and college events, while still having a private place to call your own. We guarantee on-campus accommodation for all new full-time undergraduates who choose Lancaster as their firm choice and apply by the deadline.
Library services
The library is open 24 hours a day during term-time. It has an impressive collection of physical and digital resources, alongside a range of technology‑enabled study spaces. Dedicated teams are available to support your learning.
In the 2025 National Student Survey, Lancaster received a 93.9% positivity score for library resources, reflecting the high level of student satisfaction.
ICT services

Lancaster University is situated on 578 acres of beautiful parkland campus. It’s home to teaching and learning facilities, study areas, living spaces, cafes, bars, restaurants, green space, and much more. The student-friendly city of Lancaster is just a short bus or bike journey away from campus.
Lancaster is one of only a handful of UK universities with a collegiate system, which consists of eight undergraduate colleges and one for postgraduates. Top university
It is good for various courses and yes I would recommend to others. The professors are very in-depth with their teaching and always willing to offer assistance. The campus is massive and comes with various races so you'll fit in well.
Great professors
A number of specific professors in particular stood out to me. The experience they had within their fields of marketing, the knowledge they were able to share in their specific modules and the way they spoke about the subject and made it engaging and easy to understand by giving creative explanations and demonstrating concepts and ideas through interesting examples. This was the highlight of my time at Lancaster. I also found that a lot of the modules on offer were unique, or were taught in unique ways with unique coursework, to other universities. I like this about Lancaster because it has given me experiences, knowledge and the opportunity to apply knowledge to different real-life situations that I would not get at other universities, which makes me feel as if I can offer something different to others. The key thing I didn't like about marketing at Lancaster was that some of the lectures and workshops/seminars themselves felt almost useless. Some lectures had professors reading almost entirely from the powerpoint and not adding anything to the lectures through them talking, meaning that lots of students stopped attending lectures as they realised they could just do them at home. If these lecturers added additional insights, or examples, explanations, definitions, coursework tips and generally made the lectures more engaging so students could contribute within them more easily then people would keep attending. Similar issues arose in some workshops/seminars, as they didn't really feel like they added anything to the module, but were rather just an additional, ungraded task to complete. If they were better at adding insights, explaining concepts, giving help/advice on coursework and providing tasks/activities within them that genuinely engaged students then attendance would have been significantly higher and students would feel that they have gained something valuable from them that will help in coursework, understanding and that they can bring into their careers.
My experience studying at Lancaster University
My programme has significantly expanded my understanding of the business world. Through opportunities such as competitions, interactive projects, and coursework, I�ve been able to develop both my practical skills and confidence in applying what I�ve learned. However, one area that could be improved is communication. At times, important information is said to have been shared but doesn�t always reach students, which can be frustrating and makes it harder to stay fully informed.
