History
EF Education First was founded by Bertil Hult at the age of 23, in the basement of his university dormitory in Lund, Sweden. Having struggled with dyslexia as a child, Bertil Hult founded EF on the principle that cultural immersion was a superior way to study a language.

Housing services
EF students travel abroad for a full immersion experience, and staying with a host family is an essential part of our unique programs. Living in a private home offers a warm and secure way for students to immerse themselves in the daily life of their new country. Homestay students enrich their understanding of local culture and customs, pick up expressions and slang with greater ease and acquire a more authentic accent. Most importantly, students develop meaningful relationships with their host families that often last far beyond the duration of their language course.
Accreditation
EF has always been at the forefront of developing innovative courses and teaching materials. EF's English textbooks were written by international language experts to follow Council of Europe guidelines.
