History
The Instituto Agrícola e Escola Regional de Lisboa was opened in the place of the Cruz do Taboado, which was the home to the College of Veterinary Medicine (FMV) (Note: it refers to the former installations of the FMV, in the Street Gomes Freire). A farm was acquired, named “Bemposta”, located about 1 km from the school, where it was possible to make the various practical demonstrations.
Education
For emergent fields of knowledge our school has courses of Continuous Learning, accessible to either students or professionals, which are of variable dimension and not ending with any degree. Contingent upon their nature and dimension, they can be organized in ECTS. In this section you can find the listing of courses on offer for the current school year, as well as for the previous ones.
Research
Since the outset of Agricultural Teaching in Portugal, back in 1852, until the 70's, ISA remained the only Portuguese school to provide high school teaching in the field of agriculture, which allowed to be, today, a school with a high reputation, either domestic or internationally, for its teachers and researchers team of excellence.

ISA aims to support its students beyond their academic cycle, namely in the workforce integration of its own graduates.For this reason, since 2000, it has a service that supports students, end year and newly graduated, in their learning enrichment and transition from school to the workforce.
This, among other services, ensures spreading out information about job opportunities, internships, training, seminars and theme fairs, to all students, end year and newly graduated, in the Saídas Profissionais/Work Opportunities display, or to registered addresses in our mailing list.

There are at ISA several spaces and rooms, including the up-to-date ISA Library, dedicated to individuals studying, as well as group work, that can be used by students.
All those spaces are covered by the eduroam wireless network. In some of them there are, as well, access to computer hardware.

Housing services
SA has lodging services at the disposal of the academic family - the ISA School Residence.
These quarters are specifically allocated to our own students, to allow them learning, research and well-being conditions, establishing a wealthy academic environment within our premises, promoting cultural diversity and experiences among residents.
Today ISA has five hostels at its campus, and they are located about 1200 meters from the main building.
Library services
Agrolivro bookshop offers a diversified choice of published material in the fields of Agrisciences and Landscape Architecture, as well as other kind of works. They can be purchased on the spot or by order, and students have a 10% discount.
Medical services
Since February 2013 all the UTL community can find the Medical Centre at Polo da Ajuda, within CEDAR facilities. UTL Medical Centre offers the following services:
- General Practice - Family Planning - Ophthalmology
- Dentistry
- Psychology
- Office for Student Psychological Assistance (GAP)
- Other medical specialities consultations
- Disturbances in Child and Teenager Development
Campus life
ISA is set in a green area of 1 sq. kilometre where laboratories, classrooms, work areas and sport and leisure infrastructures are located.
Besides the teaching component, ISA provides its students a whole set of cultural, sports and recreational activities, essential to strengthen their brotherhood ties, and sharing and support in scholastic issues.
Sports facilities
With a long tradition at ISA the practice of rugby benefits from two grass surfaced fields managed by the alumnISA association.
ISA Students Association is also involved in the practice of some sports among students, namely, school rugby, soccer, volleyball, basketball and futsal.
ISA family can still benefit from CEDAR's offerings. This association is a branch of UTL Social Welfare unit, and is assigned to promote, amongst UTL academic brotherhood, wellness and sport activities.

ISA's Students Association - AEISA
AEISA, established 21st November 1911, is the representative organization for ISA students.Nowadays with a centennial responsibility, AEISA motivates the participation of students in all school activities and those concerning the association, tries to establish a connection between the school and its affiliates regarding the country economic reality, and join forces with all domestic and international student organizations, publicizing and promoting ISA.
