Kent Business School

Kent Business School (KBS) is a leading Business School accredited by The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) which places KBS within the top institutions globally for business degrees, with only 5% of the world’s Business Schools attaining this accreditation

You learn from teachers who are experts in their field, many of whom draw on their own practical experience in their teaching. Most are active researchers and enjoy sharing their knowledge and discoveries with you. Our teaching methods are varied; you take part in workshops, individual and team presentations, and use case studies to apply the theory to actual companies.

Kent Business School has an international reputation for the quality of its research. Our research addresses many of the main challenges facing the global business community, and we work with leading companies and institutions including Parker Steel, Priority Freight, Port of Dover, Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (DSTL).

Our staff publish frequently in leading international journals and write text-books used by undergraduate and postgraduate students.

We are proud of the success of our graduates and to ensure this continues we offer targeted support to our students.

We have an experienced employability team who have developed a programme of seminars on employability, workshops and opportunities to meet with employers and gain work experience.

We can help you develop your great idea into a real business proposition and advise you on setting up your own business. We also run Dragon’s Den-style events to give you experience of pitching your ideas in a realistic environment.

Housing services

  • On the Canterbury campus we have something for you, whether you want to cook for yourself or have your meals included, live in a modern flat or in a shared house. Choosing where you live is an important decision, start your journey here and select either undergraduate or postgraduate accommodation.
  • Pier Quays (formerly Liberty Quays) is a great accommodation option for students in Medway. You would be living in an en-suite room in a flat, with between 5 and 8 students sharing a spacious kitchen. The accommodation also has two purpose-built social spaces, making it easy to socialise and meet friends.

Library services

 Templeman Library:

  • Access to a huge range of high-quality digital resources, such as e-books, e-journals, databases, newspapers, and multimedia
  • There's a wide range of study spaces in the Library, including spaces with student PCs and different types of seating. Work in one of our more relaxed spaces, or use a silent space if you prefer not to be disturbed.

ICT services

  • The University pays for software that you can download and use for free, or buy at a reduced rate. Your school or department may offer other software applications, so make sure to check with them.
  • Use the University of Kent Wi-Fi service 'eduroam' if you have a Kent IT Account or are visiting from an eduroam institution.

Student Life

Campus life

  • Kent Business School has sites on our Canterbury and Medway campuses. Both campuses have first-class academic and leisure facilities.

  • At Canterbury, we are based in the Sibson building. Recently built, Sibson provides first-class resources in a beautiful setting, with plenty of spaces to study and relax. Everything you need on campus is within walking distance, including a general store, a bookshop, bank, a medical centre and a pharmacy.
  • Our Medway home is unique. Reflecting the innovative nature of our School, we have created a 21st-century learning environment in an historic 18th-century building on the Chatham Historic Dockyard area of Kent's Medway campus.

A kite mark of our global distinction and rigorous academic teaching is reflected in our accreditation from the Association of MBAs (AMBA) and our membership of the Chartered Association of Business Schools, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AASCB), the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) and the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD).
