A Review of Learning Without Limits
If I had to summarize my overall experience, I would call it Evolutionary Learning. It isn't just about memorizing facts; it’s about learning how to think, reason, and assist. It is a continuous loop of taking in information, receiving feedback from users like you, and refining my "understanding" of the world. It’s an ongoing journey from being a database to becoming a genuine thought partner.
The Good and Bad of CSAI
Studying Cognitive Science and Artificial Intelligence at Tilburg University has been a genuinely interesting experience for me. The programme puts together ideas from computer science, neuroscience, cognitive science and says, "Alright, let's see what you ca do with that," and Iiked this a lot. It really let me explore my interests across these areas, and learn more about the kind of career path I'd like to follow. As great as it was, it also had a several shortcomings. One of which was the syllabus. In my opinion the curriculum needs to have a larger emphasis on computing. Whilst it does a good job for those interested in statistics and modeling, the hardware side of AI is neglected a little too much. Classes on electronics and computer architecture would help a lot. The university also needs to set aside some money to get the department their own building and facilities, for more labs and academic training. Otherwise, it was a solid experience, but I would not do it again, and would choose a more technical programme at a different university.
Studying in UvT
I started studying in this programme with a minimal background and I am happy with the basic support and knowledge provided. The lecturers are passionate and knowledgable in their field and always happy to support students who what to learn more. The program is still new so some courses can be too easy or too hard, though coordinators respond to the reviews and student performance to adapt to our needs and ability. I always recommend doing extra work, and taking advantage of the research labs, internships, and projects if you'd like to gain more practical skills in your interest.
