History
In 1927, the then named Roomsch Katholieke Handelshoogeschool, with 5 professors and 8 lecturers, opened its doors to 28 Economics students. In 2017 Tilburg University celebrates its 90th anniversary.

Library services
The Tilburg University Library has over 800,000 books, journals and other publications in paper and digital form. Moreover, the Tilburg University network offers you free access to all major scientific databases and digital journals. WorldCat Local allows you to easily find, access, and borrow publications available at Tilburg University, in other libraries in the Netherlands, and worldwide.
ICT services
Students can use one of the many study areas on campus to prepare for lectures and exams. Most study areas have both individual and group workspaces, offering computers with Internet access and wireless zones and plug-in connections for use with your laptop.
Medical services
Medical costs can be high in the Netherlands, especially if you require specialized care at a hospital. Dutch law requires you to have adequate healthcare and third party liability insurance.
If you are from one of the countries of the European Union and possess a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), you may not be required to have Dutch public healthcare insurance.
Campus life
Tilburg University has a compact green campus in beautiful wooded surroundings. Almost all activities are concentrated here. Communication lines between students and university staff are short. The campus has a modern library with state-of-the-art study- and work spaces. Spread around campus there are over 650 individual and group workstations, some of which are located outside!
Sports facilities
The modern Tilburg University Sports Center with its extensive indoor and outdoor accommodation offers a wide variety of sporting opportunities. In addition to the classes and activities with professional supervision offered at the Sports Center, you can also work out individually. You can thoroughly unwind in our Finnish sauna with roof terrace or enjoy a drink in the T-Sports café. Membership also gives you free access to fitness T-Kwadraat, three municipal swimming pools in Tilburg, and the Ireen Wüst Ice Skating Rink. And all of this at a great student rate!
Student clubs
Tilburg University has various study-related associations that organize both social and professional events. These study associations are program-specific.
Every School in the University has its own School Council, which represents students, lecturers and support staff. The School Councils take decisions on educational, research-related, strategic, and financial issues.
